5 Countries where travel with insurance is mandatory

COVID-19 has not only closed the door to many travellers, but has also tightened entry requirements to many countries by requiring medical tests such as negative PCR, or mandatory quarantine. 

However, regardless of the pandemic, in addition to these restrictions, many countries also require tourists to purchase travel insurance with medical assistance and repatriation coverage in order to enter their territory.  In addition, each state or group of states imposes a number of conditions on these policies...

BRASIL 

  • Valid passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of departure from Brazil
  • Return air ticket 
  • Economic data check
  • Insurance valid throughout Brazil and for the entire period of the trip
  • Coverage of minimum expenses of 30.000 Reais (5,000 euros) 
  • Policy written in Portuguese or English


ECUADOR 

  • Certificado,invoice or proof of an international travel insurance valid in Ecuador and during the whole stay in the country. 
  • Extensive coverage of medical expenses including repatriation to Spain. 


CUBA 

  • Travel insurance with extensive coverage of medical expenses, repatriation and 24-hour assistance. 
  • The insurance company must provide the traveler with a letter stating that the traveler will have medical assistance in Cuba

RUSIA 

  • Valid visa covering the period of stay. 
  • Travel insurance with medical coverage against any contingency (including repatriation)
  • The insurer must provide the traveller with a letter so that the authorities confirm that the traveller will be guaranteed such coverage at destination. 


ESPACIO SCHENGEN 

Formed by the 26 countries of the European continent (Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Slovenia, Spain, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Holland, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtensein, Lithuania, Luxembour, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovak Republic, Swedend and Switzerlan). 

The Schengen insurance allows you to obtain a visa to travel in these countries for a maximum of 3 months in a period of 6 months without having to make additional arrangements for each of them. The Schengen insurance has to fulfil a series of minimum requirements:


  • There are countries that will require a letter provided by your insurance company that reflects that the policy meets these conditions. 
  • Coverage of repatriation costs in the event of emergency or death, emergency medical assistance and emergency hospital care, with a minimum coverage of 30,000 euros. 
  • Validity equal to the time spent in Schengen territory, that is, the time of wich the visa is issued
